Everyday cooking
Dissolve coarse sea salt in soups, sauces or cooking water. Stir well before tasting so an undissolved grain does not give a misleading impression of the seasoning.
Roasting & finishing
Grind coarse salt over vegetables before roasting, or add a light final seasoning after cooking. Our coarse sea salt is a crystal salt, rather than a delicate flake salt.
Choose the right grain
A dry coarse salt can suit a salt mill; check the mill instructions first. For a recipe that specifies fine salt, grind first and measure by weight where possible.
Common questions
Can I bake with coarse sea salt?
Use the grain specified in the recipe. Large crystals may distribute unevenly in a dough or batter; grind them finely or dissolve them when the recipe allows.
Is sea salt interchangeable with table salt?
Not necessarily spoon for spoon. Different crystal sizes pack differently into a teaspoon. Follow a recipe’s specified salt or its weight measurement.
