BATH & BODY QUESTIONS

Salt beyond the kitchen.

Bath salts and salt scrubs are distinct product uses. Choose a product labelled for the intended application.

About the Sea Mount packs

Our Sea Mount salt collection is presented for culinary use. For the bath and body routines below, choose products specifically labelled for bathing or skin care. Do not substitute our culinary packs for a formulated bath or body product.

GENERAL BATH-SALT USE

A salt soak

Himalayan and sea salts are sold in products specifically intended for bathing. Follow the bath product’s directions for quantity and use. A cooking label alone does not establish bath suitability.

Pink salt is not Epsom salt, so do not treat the two as interchangeable in product directions.

GENERAL BODY-SCRUB USE

Gentle exfoliation

Salt is used in some formulated body scrubs. Exfoliation is not suitable for every skin type; coarse kitchen crystals should not be used as a direct substitute for a finished skin-care product.

Dermatologists advise gentle application and avoiding cuts or sunburned skin. Scrubs can irritate dry, sensitive or acne-prone skin; ask a dermatologist if you are unsure.

Foot soaks

A smaller basin can be used with a product intended for foot soaking. Follow its directions, and avoid irritated or broken skin. This general use does not establish suitability of our culinary packs.

Prepare a bath-salt soak

This is a routine for a product labelled for bathing, not a universal salt formula. Use its stated amount, water conditions and soaking time.

  1. Read the bath product’s directions and gather a clean towel and a nonslip mat.
  2. Run comfortably warm water. Measure the amount stated on the bath product.
  3. Add as directed and stir to dissolve before entering; avoid sitting on undissolved coarse grains.
  4. Follow the stated soaking time. Stop if the water or product irritates your skin.
  5. Rinse if directed, dry gently and clean away any slippery residue.

Set up a foot soak

Ceramic basin, towel and a small bowl of salt
  1. Use a clean basin and a product intended for foot soaking.
  2. Fill with comfortably warm water and measure the product for that water volume according to its label; a bath dose is not a basin dose.
  3. Dissolve as directed and follow the product’s stated time. Avoid broken or irritated skin.
  4. Dry carefully, including between the toes, and wash the basin after use.

Using a finished body scrub

Choose a formulated body scrub suitable for your skin rather than rubbing coarse kitchen salt directly on it.

  1. Follow the product directions for wet or dry skin.
  2. Apply gently with small circular movements; avoid wounds, sunburn and irritated areas.
  3. Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water and apply moisturizer. Reduce frequency or stop if irritation occurs.

Exfoliation is not necessary for every skin type. Read dermatologist guidance.
